Mister JSU Kijana Roberts Welcome Letter

Despite the challenges that this year has presented us thus far, you have persevered and made a decision that will not only change your life, but will ultimately change the world. As your fourth Mister Jackson State University, I will be with you to ensure that your first year is full of inspiration, hope, fun, and dedication to serving the community which houses you. Under my Unity platform, this year will be full of events and projects that are focused on unifying the different factions of our “Dear Old College Home” as well as unifying the campus with the great city of Jackson, MS. My goal is to collect and project the voices of all classifications, majors, cultures, and organizations as one sound; one unified university.

My past three years at JSU have been nothing short of impactful. The people that I have met and the experiences that have led me to assume the position of Mister JSU have inspired me to leave this university in better shape than I received it. Alongside Daisia Davis, your 81st Miss Jackson State University, I will use my position to represent this university to the best of my ability while making sure that you make the most out of your freshman year.

As you make your transition from highschool to college, I want you to remember these three things: never let doubt hinder you from seizing the opportunities in front of you, finish everything you do stronger than you started it, and make every waking minute a memory. You are about to be exposed to a life and culture unlike anything you have ever seen, so make sure that you capture every moment while staying focused on the reason that you are here: to change the world. By choosing Jackson State University, you have taken the first step into being the next generation of world leaders, challenging scientists, life-changing educators, and anything else you set your mind on. Because your future is as limitless as your imagination.
