Miss JSU Daisia Davis Welcome Letter

It’s not about how you start it’s how you finish! Coming into your freshman year in this time is hard to handle, but it’s about how you will make the best out of your situation and experiences. This year will be nothing short of amazing because I, your 81st Miss JSU, my king, KiJana, and the rest of my royal court will do everything that we can to make sure you guys get the most out of your freshman year. Freshman year is the foundation to how the rest of your college years will transpire. I encourage you all to get involved, network with whoever you come across, excel in all of your classes and have fun. By doing these key things I know that you all will bring brighter days to JSU!

My platform that I will stand on for my entire reign is bringing a brighter day to JSU by dedicating my time to brighten student experiences, taking action in creating a brighter campus community, and influencing you all to stay at JSU for a brighter future. In order for me to brighten your experience at JSU, it is imperative that I establish great relationships with you all by being relatable. I was once in your shoes, coming to college not knowing what my next steps are. I want to help you all alleviate all of those troubles and help guide you through your first year by mentoring you, getting you all comfortable in your new environment, helping you all network, and putting on fun, hands on, informative, and service driven events.

One piece of advice that I want you all to keep in mind, is to never listen to someone else’s negative opinions. College and life in general are all about what you make it, so never go into a situation thinking negatively. It’s easier said than done but it’ll make a difference on how you navigate through challenging times. And never let anyone tell you what you can and cannot do. If you have a dream or goal, tackle it full-fledged! In some cases, we might not succeed on our first try, but never give up! What’s for you, will always be for you, and always remember that.
