Richard Wright Center

Welcome to The Richard Wright Center for Writing, Rhetoric, and Research

The Richard Wright Center for Writing, Rhetoric, and Research (RWC) is affiliated with the College of Liberal Arts. The RWC is a site of student and faculty support, tutor professional development, and research into writers’ rhetorical awareness and flexibility.

Our mission is to provide an environment for intellectual engagement outside the classroom. At any stage of the creative and research processes, students and faculty have the opportunity to interact with trained tutors using technology as they develop written, oral, and visual representations of their ideas for an academic audience.

At JSU, we all write! And all writers need feedback.

  • In the RWC experienced tutors offer feedback on papers, speeches, or research – at any stage of the creative process.
  • Effective writers and speakers talk with colleagues during their creative process – about ideas and different approaches for communicating them.
  • Peer tutors are students who have been trained to offer feedback and like to talk with other students, like you, about ideas.
