Kung Fu Panda kicks competition out the box office

If you are ready to channel you inner child, “Kung Fu Panda 3” is the movie for you.

This animated movie which premiered Jan. 26 is sure to make you feel good. You can see it alone, with a child, or that special someone for Valentine’s Day.

This action and adventure series was directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson and Alessandro Carloni and produced by Melissa Cobb. The production companies that help all of this come true were DreamWorks Animation and Oriental DreamWorks.

The main cast was familiar voices and included Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogan and Lucy Liu.

According to IMBD, Po’s long-lost panda father suddenly reappears. The reunited duo travels to a secret panda paradise to meet scores of hilarious new panda characters. But when the supernatural villain Kai begins to sweep across China defeating all the kung fu masters, Po must do the impossible-learn to train a village full of his fun-loving, clumsy brethren to become the ultimate band of Kung Fu Pandas.

“I really enjoyed the action that “Kung Fu Panda” brought. It kept me just as entertained as the last two movies did, which were great,” said Shannon Parker, a senior accounting major from Indianapolis, Ind.

During its opening weekend, the film grossed more than $41 million.  To date, the movie has made more than $63 million, according to IMBD.

This movie actually surpassed the Oscar nominated movie from the number one spot, which was “The Revenant” within the very first weekend of the film in theaters

Critics have good reviews for the third installment in this series. According to RottenTomatoes.com, 80 percent of the critics agreed that the movie was good. Also on Cinemascore.com, critics gave the movie an A.
