Due to Hurricane Isaac, Jackson State University will cancel all classes and will be closed for business on Wednesday, Aug. 29. Only essential personnel are required to report to work.
All residence halls will remain open, along with campus food services. There are no plans to evacuate the campus.
The JSU Student Center will be opened throughout the day Wednesday. Student activities will include a Tiger Cinema Movie-thon, beginning at 9 a.m. in the theater. The TigerZone game room will be opened from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. The Walter Payton Recreation and Wellness Center will be open at its regular hours, 6 a.m. until 9 p.m.
The university will issue an update by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, as to whether JSU will be open Thursday, Aug. 30. Students and other are advised to continue to monitor 10.14.12.245 for updates.
Two events scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 30, have been canceled: The Blue and White Tiger Bash and the opening reception for the Mirrors of Clay art exhibition.
