Get ready Tigers because the 2012 Black Entertainment Television Black College Tour is on the road again and the pit-stop for Jackson State University will be on Friday Sept. 21.

Eleven years ago BET kicked off this tour to travel to the Historically Black Colleges and Universities across the country to acknowledge the importance of education and it’s role within the community and society.

JSU is one of 14 tour stops this year and one of two universities that will be visited in Mississippi. Yesterday, the BET Black College Tour was scheduled to visit the campus of JSU’s arch rival, Alcorn State University and tomorrow they will be in Tigerland.

One talented student will even have the chance to serve as the host and will be featured in a 60 second commercial that will highlight each tour on BET.

Throughout the day, students will be able to enjoy a free fun-filled day of activities on the Gibbs-Green Pedestrian Walkway. The show starts at 12 noon and some of this year’s sponsored activities include a singing contest, the Citi-Trends freestyle Battle, Drop the Beat contest, a 3-pointcontest and the U.S. Air Force 2-on-2 Basketball Competition.

Interscope recording artist Kayla Brianna is touring with the College tour this year and will be performing live on the yard.  In addition to these activities, students will also have an opportunity to register to vote, get tested for HIV/AIDS with BET’s award-winning Rap It Up Initiative, product sampling and receive giveaways and consumer information. There will also be a Video Skillz Challenge, inflatable games and a BET game tent. If you have a copy of your resume, bring it to the career tent.

Don’t worry about missing out on any of the above activities because these events will take place from 12 noon-4 p.m.
