Do you have everything you need to help you transition from home to the residence hall? There are five essential items college students should have in their room to help with campus living.
#1 Cleaning supplies – You will need bleach, cleaning wipes and a broom to keep your room clean and free of germs and dirt.
#2 Snacks – For those times when the cafeteria is closed and you need that energy boost for a late night study session, make sure your favorite salty or sweet treat is on hand. Frequent visits to fast-food restaurants can deplete your funds pretty quickly.
#3 Laptop – Jackson State freshmen are privileged because they received an iPad to aid them with classroom studies. And the school also provides free access to computer labs around campus, but sometimes it can be packed to capacity or the servers are down. If you have your own computer, you do not have to wait in line for an available computer, or be distracted by other students.
#4 Over-the-counter medicine – Headaches, stomach aches, colds minor injuries will happen. It is a good idea to have medicines available to alleviate these ills on hand. For more serious illnesses, do not forget the Health Services Center is on campus and ready, willing and able to help.
#5 Calendar/agenda – It is a well known fact that students who prioritize, plan, and pace themselves do better in college. Stay on task and ahead of the game to prevent the stress of being behind.
