For “Empire” fans who have been eagerly awaiting the return of smash music filled drama, the wait is almost over. The first episode will air on the Fox network on Sept. 23 and is sure to surpass its almost 10 million viewers from last year’s premiere.
On the last episode of season 1 there was a lot going on. Lucious finds out that he was misdiagnosed and does not have ALS, Cookie Lyon, Hakeem and Andre have staged a coup and taken over Empire and last but certainly not least, Lucious gets arrested for killing his cousin Marcus.
All of these OMG moments will have millions tuning in to see the premiere of Season 2.
Previews released of the upcoming season have teased us with an alliance between Cookie, Andre and Lucious’ ex, Anika Calhoun, trying to remove Lucious from his CEO position over the company. It appears that the competition between brothers Jamal and Hakeem will also come to a head as Jamal plans to outsell and outshine Hakeem’s album. All of this will be going on while Lucious struggles to get out of jail.
Season 2 will also have a bevy of celebrity guest stars, including: Mariah Carey, Adam Busch, Andre Royo, Kelly Rowland, Marisa Tomei, Adam Rodriguez, Chris Rock, Lenny Kravitz and Alicia Keys. R&B powerhouse Ne-Yo will also join Timberland in writing music for Season 2.
“I am really looking forward to the music for this season and seeing the celebrity guest stars,” said Adrian Barton, a senior from Forest, Miss.
This season of “Empire” will be full of surprises and things that will blow your mind.
