Valentine’s Day is here! As you enjoy various festivities with your loved ones, it is vital that both of you do so on a full stomach. Everyone loves a good meal. Here is a list of possible restaurants in the Jackson area to visit on Valentine’s Day.
Iron Horse Grill
If you and your date have a taste for good food served in a comfortable atmosphere, you should definitely stop by Iron Horse Grill. It is located on West Pearl Street, or down the street from Jackson State University’s main campus. Meals include various types of grilled fajitas, burgers, and favorite “fixins”, such as the chicken fried chicken served with mashed potatoes and the vegetable of the day. Not only is the food delectable, but there is also a live band, which may be of interest to those couples who enjoy (live) music. Iron Horse Grill will be open on Valentine’s Day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Jaco’s Tacos
Also within the parameters of Jackson State University is Jaco’s Tacos. This restaurant serves Mexican food only. A special menu will be provided for Valentine’s Day. It includes a starter, a salad, an entrée (your choice between filet mignon and fire roasted chicken), and a triple sponge cake with caramel drizzle for dessert. If this does not interest you, you may also choose from entrées such as quesadillas, nachos, Mexican pizza and burritos. Jaco’s Tacos will open at 11 a.m. and close at 9 p.m. on Valentine’s Day.
Sal and Mookie’s
If you are not interested in an upscale-type restaurant for Valentine’s Day and want something as simple as pizza, you got it! Head over to Sal and Mookie’s New York Pizza and Ice Cream Joint. Build your own pizza or chose from a variety of foods like, Paninis, traditional subs, and pastas, all for reasonable prices. Sal and Mookie’s even has an adult-only lounge, which will allow you and your date to get nice and cozy. The hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Char
Last but not least, Char restaurant on I-55 Frontage Road in North Jackson should also be considered when deciding where to dine for this special day. Make sure your refund has dropped or you just got paid however, because the menu is on the pricey side, but well worth the bucks. Great food, service, and an intimate setting will surely make the night a special one.
Gabrielle Baker, a sophomore mass communications major from Memphis, Tenn., has visited the establishment and said she had a succulent steak.
“Their pasta is good, also. The ambiance is like an after five dinner setting, because it’s a steak house. It’s perfect for a date,” said Baker.
Char will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday.
These restaurants were selected based on their reasonable prices, good food, intimate settings and ambiance, and the fact that they not the average restaurant. Wherever you choose to dine for V-Day, be sure that it is special and that the food leaves you satisfied!
