Bebe Rexha, the 29-year-old songwriter who is up for two Grammy nominations for Best New Artist and Best Group Performance for her song “Meant to Be” with Florida Georgia Line told her fans that she is finding it shockingly difficult to find a designer who will be able to fit her for next month’s awards show.

She also shared her frustration on Jan. 21 in a video posted to her Instagram page. Rexha feels that because of her size, six to eight (UK size 10-12), nobody would make her a dress, which has become popular over the years for nominees to showcase at the awards ceremonies.

“So, I finally get nominated at the Grammys and it’s the coolest thing ever. A lot of times artists will go and talk to designers and they’ll make them custom dresses to walk the red carpet. They can go to any big designer. I had my team contact a lot of designers and a lot of them do not want to dress me because I’m too big. Literally, I’m too big. Empower women to love their bodies instead of making girls and women feel less than by their size,” Rexha explained to her fans in a video.

She added in her caption that it is okay if designers do not like her fashion, style, or music, but should not say they you can’t dress someone that isn’t a runway size.

Fans worldwide and many people who have heard of this issue have called for her to release the names of the designers who refused to dress her, so women can boycott their clothing lines.

Others have also been praising her for speaking out publicly and standing up for the women who are not small in size.

This is not the first time this has been an issue. “Will & Grace” actress Megan Mullally recently revealed that she had to buy her dress for this year’s Screen Actors’ Guild Awards online.

Mullally wrote on Instagram, “Designers do not send me dresses, even though there is literally a 100 percent chance that I will be on camera, because I’M HOSTING.”

Saturday Night Live star Leslie Jones had a similar complaint, “It’s so funny how there are no designers wanting to help me with a premiere dress for movie.”

American fashion designer also known from Project Runway, Christian Siriano, who came through for Jones and Mullally when no designers would work with them, has also volunteered his services to Rexha.

The singer has been an advocate for women’s rights and runs regular women in harmony events to support fellow artists and producers.
