The pandemic has brought the world into a sudden halt, causing everyone to stay inside their homes and to stay six feet apart from people while they are outside.

The way everything operated in the world quickly shifted, as the virus swept over the nation putting everyone in danger.

It has not only affected things that occur in people’s everyday life, such as going to the grocery store,  to school, or even just for a jog in the park, but it has also affected special events that occur year round.

Concerts and festivals have been cancelled. Award shows and talk shows have gone virtual and lastly, schools around the world have gone mostly virtual.

Artists have not skipped a beat by making sure their fans are still in tune with their new music. With no concerts taken place, going virtual was the only option, to what is now known as the verzuz battles.

Verzuz battles became a popular virtual event where iconic producers, singers, and rappers come together on Instagram live and play hit for hit.

Some of the recent battles  included; Ludacris vs Nelly, Babyface vs Teddy Riley, Fabolous vs. Jadakiss,  Erykah Badu vs Jill Scott and more.

As they battle it out for the most hits, fans go insane in the comments, enjoying themselves in the safety of their homes as they reminisce on the music they have loved for years.

The previous battle with 2 million views had everyone in shock.

Known for their long-term beef, Monica and Brandy decided to put their differences aside and join in on the musical fun.

The two R&B singers had millions of viewers tuned in Monday, Aug. 31., as they played their iconic songs and some of their new records as well.

Iconic singers and soul sisters, Gladys Knight and Patti Labelle were the latest singers to be featured to battle on Sunday. They both sang to each other’s music and gave great energy to the viewers.

Some Jackson State University students gave their opinions on who they would love to see in the upcoming battle.

Tyreek Scott, a senior business major from Raymond, Miss. Stated, “I would love to see Wayne and Drake. I find it very entertaining because of the relationship between the two. Wayne is a legend in the game. He led horses to the water. Drake took advantage of every possibility he had making him one of the head horses right now. I can relate that to other real world scenarios. There are some people who do not mind giving out gems to help other people succeed in life and there are people who do not mind taking that help and excelling from it.”

Shumeia Johnson, a junior business major from Jackson Miss. expressed how R&B singer Keyshia Cole was her favorite and would like to see a battle with her take place.

“I am not sure who she would battle against but I will be team Keyshia Cole baby! Hopefully she’ll see this!” exclaimed Johnson.

Who do you want to see do a verzuz battle? Let  us know in the comments.
