For the first time in nearly four decades, the Los Angeles Dodgers are World Series Champions.<\/p>\n

The Dodgers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 3-1 in Game 6 to clinch the series at Globe Life Field on Oct.27. This is the Dodgers seventh title in franchise history and probably the most challenging one.<\/p>\n

Game 6 of the series might go down as one of the most bizarre games in MLB history. Rays manager Kevin Cash for some apparent reason took his best player at the time, Blake Snell out of the game. This would immediately give the Dodgers momentum as they began to take control over the game.<\/p>\n

The Dodgers were only able to get two hits through the first five innings and offense began to pick up in the sixth inning. The Dodgers exploited the now fragile defense of the Rays to go on and win the series.<\/p>\n

What was also bizarre in Game 6 is the Dodgers third baseman, Justin Turner being pulled from the game for testing positive for COVID-19.<\/p>\n

Turner was 0-3 with two strikeouts before being removed from the game in the beginning of the eighth inning. His exit from the game was initially unknown before it was confirmed that he tested positive for COVID-19.<\/p>\n

Turner took to Twitter after the game, to address his fans on his health and how he felt.<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks to everyone reaching out. I feel great, no symptoms at all. Just experienced every emotion you can possibly imagine. Can\u2019t believe I couldn\u2019t be out there to celebrate with my guys! So proud of this team and unbelievably happy for the City of LA #WorldSeriesChamps.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before the postseason began, the MLB reduced traveling for teams and placed them in insulated bubbles to help prevent the spread of the virus. Turner however was the first player to test positive for the virus since the postseason began.<\/p>\n

Taronta Gines, a senior accounting major from Moss Point, Miss., believes this is the most important World Series due to the COVID-19 crisis.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe amount of respect I have for baseball players has increased tremendously. The fact that they still had enough poise to compete at a high level and finish the season is highly impressive due to the circumstances our country is under,\u201d said Gines.<\/p>\n

Kimiya Lewis, a junior elementary education major, from Chicago, Ill., hopes the Dodgers win can shed some positive light on the city of Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis win is big for the city of Los Angeles and the MLB as a whole. This was one of the most bizarre years of my life and it\u2019s refreshing to see one of my favorite teams be victorious in the end.
