<\/a>Taylor Bembery<\/strong> One of the wacky Wayans is at it again with a \u201cParanormal Activity\u201d and \u201cThe Devil Inside\u201d parody film called \u201cA Haunted House.\u201d\u00a0 The R-rated, 1 hour and 35 minute comedy\/horror film premiered in theatres on Jan. 13 and grossed $18,101,682 at the box office in its opening weekend.<\/p>\n The movie begins with strange occurrences befalling a young couple, Malcolm and Kisha, who are played by Marlon Wayans and Essence Atkins.<\/p>\n You may remember Marlon as the younger Wayans brother from the hit WB sitcom \u201cThe Wayans Bros\u201d along with many other notable performances in spoof movies that include, \u201cScary Movie 1 &2,\u201d \u201cWhite Chicks\u201d and \u201cDance Flick.\u201d\u00a0 Wayans has proven that he can do more than just act a fool on screen with his roles in the critically acclaimed \u201cRequiem for a Dream\u201d and his appearance in \u201cG.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra.\u201d\u00a0 However, getting back to his comedic roots in \u201cA Haunted House\u201d was a welcome treat for movie goers.<\/p>\n Atkins is also no stranger to the big screen or television sitcoms, but is best known for her role as Dee Dee in the hit UPN sitcom, \u201cHalf & Half.\u201d She also had recurring roles on \u201cThe Cosby Show,\u201d \u201cSmart Guy\u201d and the current \u201cAre We There Yet\u201d sitcom.\u00a0 Atkins\u2019 has a long list of notable roles in movies including \u201cHow High,\u201d \u201cDance Flick\u201d and \u201cDeliver Us From Eva.\u201d Malcolm hires everyone from a priest, who is played by Cedric the Entertainer, a psychic, gangsters and ghost hunters to exorcise Kisha\u2019s unwelcomed demon. Throughout the movie Malcolm is determined not to let the evil spirit ruin his relationship and more importantly, his sex life. \u201cI usually don\u2019t go to the movies, but I wanted to go see \u201cA Haunted\u00a0 House\u201d because I\u00a0 liked the past movies the Wayans\u00a0 have done and I wasn\u2019t disappointed because it was actually funny,\u201d said Montgomery.<\/p>\n If you want to get a good laugh, then don\u2019t miss \u201cA Haunted House.\u201d The entire theater was laughing out loud during the movie at\u00a0 pretty much every scene. \nThe movies details the couples move into their dream house but they quickly find that they are not alone. However, it is not the house that is haunted, its Malcolm\u2019s girlfriend Kisha who is possessed by a demon.<\/p>\n
\nKendra Montgomery, a senior elementary education major from Detroit, Mich., saw the movie on opening night and said it was worth the money to see it.<\/p>\n
