<\/a>Mark Braboy Jackson State University students were given the opportunity to speak with representatives from 61 companies in various career fields at the annual Career Fair.<\/p>\n Held on Feb. 11 in the Student Center Ballrooms and hosted by the Career Services Center, the Career Fair is the second part of two days of intensive opportunities offered by the center.<\/p>\n On Feb. 10, the annual Career Boot Camp was held at 4 p.m. in the Jacob L. Reddix Office Complex.\u00a0 The Career Fair began the next morning at 10 p.m.\u00a0 Culminating the two day event was the annual Etiquette Dinner that took place the night of the fair at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n Kaya Robinson, senior English education major from Detroit, Mich. said, \u201cToday was a great opportunity to learn about whatever life tasks you may be interested in and how to get a jumpstart in your career.\u201d<\/p>\n Professionally dressed Jackson State students arrived in droves with r\u00e9sum\u00e9s in hand to speak with different employers, including: Homeland Security, Entergy, and Mississippi Departments of Education, Environmental Quality, Rehabilitation, and Human Services. The event was open to students of all majors.<\/p>\n Alisa Hughes, CSC Career Counselor and coordinator for the event, said the fair provides an opportunity for students to seek internships and full time employment.<\/p>\n \u201cThe purpose of this event is to put students in front of employers; those that are interested in working, those that are interested those part time and full time opportunities. Those students that are trying to look, trying to get their names out there, so that when it comes time for them to actually apply for internship and full-time opportunities, they have choices. They know that they have options available,\u201d said Hughes.<\/p>\n The Career Fair also provided students with graduate school opportunities from schools such as Belhaven University, William Carey University, the University of Mississippi MBA program, and Lincoln Memorial University. Branches of the military such the Army, Air Force, and Army ROTC were also present.<\/p>\n Michael Anthony, a sophomore criminal justice major from Jackson, Miss., considers this to be a great experience for students who are preparing for the future.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m really enjoying the Career Fair, it\u2019s a lot to take in and it\u2019s a lot to learn. For anybody who\u2019s looking for a job, it\u2019s easy to come and network with people and agencies.
