On March 3, the first floor lobby of the Jackson State University Student Center was filled to capacity as the students, faculty, staff, and the Jackson community, hurriedly gathered to meet former President of the United States, Bill Clinton.<\/p>\n

The crowd waited anxiously for Clinton\u2019s \u201cMeet & Greet\u201d that was tentatively planned to begin approximately at 2:45 p.m.<\/p>\n

Clinton discussed issues that affects communities around the U.S. such as college debt, incarceration rates, and the Flint Michigan water crisis and how his wife and democratic presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, will be fighting to put an end to these issues and much more.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe actually persuaded me to look into Hillary more,\u201d said Vinechia Johnson, a senior communicative disorders major from New Orleans, La. \u201cI like the fact that he pointed out specific issues that we deal with here in Mississippi. I also love the fact that he\u2019s here trying to help his wife out and support her when she\u2019s speaking at other places.\u201d<\/p>\n

Students believe this historical visit was beneficial to the university.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think his appearance was well needed for the students and staff to see a former high ranking official,\u201d said Jaylan Wilkes, a senior forensic science major from Chicago, Ill.<\/p>\n

The 2016 Mississippi primary elections are scheduled to be held March 8 at 7 a.m.<\/p>\n
