<\/a>Curanda Frost<\/strong> Miss Jackson State University, Mea Ashley, hosted\u00a0 \u201cWhat\u2019s Hot and What\u2019s Not? Are You Building a Professional Image?\u201d on Jan. 31st\u00a0 in the Student Center.<\/p>\n During the event, giveaways of different pieces professional clothing were given to the students in attendance at no charge. All of the clothes were donated by people from the community in an effort to help JSU students begin or enhance their professional wardrobe.<\/p>\n The program included a powerpoint presentation by representatives from the Career Services Center. It included very useful information on what to wear to formal interviews and also how to dress for business casual settings as well. CSC also stressed to students how important it is<\/p>\n to start building a professional wardrobe now so that the process will be less stressful after graduation.<\/p>\n Tips on how to mix and match different pieces of clothing and also when and where to shop for your professional attire were also included in the presentation.<\/p>\n Miss JSU\u2019s court showcased examples of casual, business casual and professional wardrobe for men and women.<\/p>\n Daryl Neely, a 1994 graduate of Jackson State, was one of the many who donated clothes to the event. He contributed suits, sports coats and pants to the other items already collected.<\/p>\n \u201cI wish that a program like this existed when I was at JSU,\u201d said Neely.\u00a0 \u201cI just wanted to do my part and help out. I enjoy supporting JSU because they have always supported me.\u201d<\/p>\n Miss JSU also gave away $25 gift cards from Belk, J.C. Penny and other stores. The gift cards were provided by various departments at JSU.<\/p>\n \u201cI think the event went very well because there were hardly any students that came and left empty handed.
