This has been an ongoing battle since Trump’s election in 2016. Trump’s initiative to get rid of Obamacare was promised in 2017, but the Senate failed short of passing a repeal bill, and voters disapproved of this plan.

In the process of getting the ACA repealed in 2018, Democrats turned 40 house votes and the control of the chamber with large numbers by criticizing the Republican’s push to repeal the ACA. Well it appears that the Republicans are trying again this year in getting the ACA repealed with no revealed plan waiting to take its place.

It appears however that the Democrats are not going down without a fight, they have been advocating to keep this proposed bill until a plan of action has been set in place.

In a recent tweet this week Trump said: “The Republican Party will become the party of Great Healthcare!”

However, with no final decision on what would be the replacement of Obamacare, many citizens would be at higher risk because there is no future plan.

Trump did mention in an interview with CNBC that he wanted to allow consumers to buy insurance across state lines, reduce premiums, and provide more freedom for citizens with his new proposed plan.

Democrats are worried that millions of Americans could lose their insurance if the law is put into place without a backup plan in for citizens who rely on Obamacare currently.

Trump stated in a interview with CNBC that if the law is approved, citizens who rely on Obamacare would be taking care of pre-existing conditions better then they have been before.

Ronald Kirby, a sophomore social work major from Little Rock, Ark., feels Trump needs to explain more what his new healthcare policy will provide for American citizens.

“How does Trump expect people who have relied on Obamacare for the last couple of years to be willing to give up their healthcare insurance without knowing what would replace current healthcare policies? I hope he is able to give answers before this law get repealed,” said Kirby.

Another Jackson State student believes Trump should just expand on the Obamacare health plan.

Lauryn Carter, a freshman criminal justice major from Chicago, Ill., is one of the people who feel Trump should not totally get rid of Obamacare.

“I believe Trump could just expand on the Obamacare healthcare policy. He doesn’t have to totally get rid of until a final plan is set into place. It puts to many people at risk, with totally getting rid of it, and it also has not had to many negative impacts on people,” said Carter

Trump’s administration has stated their plans of getting rid of Obamacare will not be in full effect until the summer of 2020 due to the Supreme Court upholding Obamacare twice. Trump’s plans on running for re-election will play a part in his new proposed healthcare plans and benefits for American Citizens.

Eryn Williams, a senior criminal justice major from Memphis,Tenn., said she hopes the new healthcare plans will be affordable.

“Trump is known to only help people of his kind (rich). Hopefully his new proposed health plans will benefit citizens in all classes. I hope in the 2020 election a president whose willing to help everyone will be elected,” said Williams.
