“I relieve stress by working on cars.”

“The engineering program here is the toughest thing I’ve ever done in my life. It’s difficult, but it’s a really good program. It’s difficult working full time and going to school full time, but you have to balance. You have to find the things you want to spend the most time on. You may forego playing video games or watching TV or hanging out, to focus on other things like homework, research projects, family and kids.

I’m married. I’ve been married for three years, and I have two children. I’m learning to balance. I relieve stress by working on cars.

I like to build race cars. I’ve got two projects going right now. Like, real, full-size, drag-racing cars. I got into it around the time the movie ‘The Fast and The Furious’ came out. That really got me into it. And when building cars, you pretty much have to tackle it like an engineering problem. You have a problem, and you need to design a solution. There are steps to get there that include lots of research and designing, and trial and error.

The engineering department here has helped me to think more logically when it comes to building race cars. They’ve helped me to see the whole picture and break it into smaller problems that need solutions.”
