Originally, I wanted to fly commercial. But when I got here, Air Force ROTC told me that I would qualify for a scholarship because of my ACT score. So I got contracted through them and found out about the option of being a pilot for the Air Force.
My family isn’t really nervous about my being in the military. They wanted to know the details of getting contracted and signing paperwork. But as long as I wasn’t being pressured into signing and I want to do it, they were fine with it.
And I’m not afraid at all. I’m not really a nervous person. If something happens, it happens. But I’m not really looking for something to happen or afraid of something happening. In any branch of the military, people die. That’s something that you know when you sign up. So you can’t really do much but trust in your training and trust in your people.”
