The rest of my family has played, but I’m the only one who has taken it seriously enough to play in high school and college. And, it’s getting me a free education, so I’m thankful for that. My goal is to play professional baseball. If not, I’d like to coach someday.
One of the toughest things for me has been dealing with my size. Growing up, I was always smaller and skinnier than the rest of my teammates. I’ve tried to put on weight, but it’s hard because my metabolism is high. It can be pretty discouraging because scouts look at size; it’s the first thing they see. And, there have been times where I’ve come close to not wanting to play anymore. Not because of my size, but because of things not going my way on the field. But, I love the game too much. I can’t let it go.”
