The annual College Tour is a TV series brought to different colleges by multimedia award winning producers and hosted by producer and co-founder, Alex Boylan.
Each episode features different campuses and tells the story of college through the lens of students.
“’The College Tour’ focuses on a single college or university and includes their campus life, academics, housing, sports and activities etc.,” said Boylan. “Each student-driven segment gives the audience an inside look of what it’s truly like being a student at the featured college or university.”
College tours help give students and their families an opportunity to visit the prospective college or university and tour the campus.
They can also provide valuable insights into the culture and community of an institution, which can be helpful in determining whether it is a good fit for the student.
However, campus tours are not always an option and that’s where the idea of the virtual “College Tour” series comes from.
College tours also give students a chance to see what life is like on a college campus. This can be a valuable experience for those who are unsure about whether they are ready for college life.
Seeing the campus and meeting other students can help students make a decision about whether they are ready to take this next step in their education.
The College Tour also gives students a better understanding of the campus, the student body, and the faculty. This show also provides a way to see the passion that a student has for attending their university.
College tours can help you learn more about the school or schools you are interested in and can help you make an informed decision about where to apply. The tours can also help you get a feel for the campus-culture and whether or not a school is a good fit for you.
Season 8 episode 12 of the College Tour features our campus and selected students. In this episode, different perspectives by Jamee McAdoo, Marvin Garcia Meda, Kiara Davison, Cameron Adams, Elizabeth Stamps, Kourtney Smith, Donovan Morton, Audrika Nahian, Laila Woodfork, and Justin Turner were shown.
Each cast member gave their reasoning as to why they chose Jackson State.
Marvin Garcia Meda, a senior biology pre-medicine major from Dallas, Texas said that his love for the marching band came from his high school band teacher— a former member of the Sonic Boom, which inspired him to do the same.
“I attended Skyline High School where my former band director was a JSU graduate and a member of the Boom. He incorporated a lot of the Boom’s style into our routines which sparked my love for Jackson State,” said Meda.
