If you are looking for an action packed movie, filled with adventure, you should consider seeing Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which premiered on Friday April 4, 2014.

This sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, is based on Marvel Comics.

Viewers who saw the movie give it high marks and good reviews, and those who haven’t say they want to see it.

“If you are in love with marvel superheroes, it is a must see movie,” said Barbara Wilson, a sophomore biology/pre-physical therapy major from Hartford, Conn. “Although I did not see the first one, I thought that it was good and definitely suspenseful. The movie had me on the edge of my seat and jumping out of it at the same time.

The main cast includes Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Redford, Sebastian Stan, and Anthony Mackie, some of which were actors in previous Marvel movies.

“I would go and see the movie because all of my friends and family members that have seen it says that it is good. They also said that it would keep my attention,” said Alonna Tipton, a sophomore psychology major from Flint, Mich.

This movie took control of the box office in the first week of April, according to hollywoodreporter.com. Not only did it make millions of dollars in the United States, but millions of dollars overseas, as well. This sequel reportedly made $96.2 million alone in North America, which made a record breaking debut. Globally, it soared to $303.3 million and they predict that it will surpass the global gross amount of The First Avenger, $370.6 million.

Captain America fans are probably more willing to say it is a must see than some movie critics, but newcomers may find it action-packed and intriguing. “I love to go to the movies and when I saw the movie preview on a commercial, it made me so eager to go see it. I did enjoy it and I would recommend it to other people,” said Tiara Todd, a sophomore communicative disorder major from Greenville, Miss.

Maya Simpson, a sophomore social work major from Carthage, Miss., said she was persuaded to see the movie despite her indifference to the idea at first.

“I did not plan on going to see it, but my younger brothers wanted to go so I took them. I did not really know what to expect, but I really liked the movie although I have not watched any of the other Marvel movies,” said Simpson. “Although, I did not see the first Captain America, I got the gist of what happened while watching this one.”

Not everyone is a Marvel comics fan so no matter the reviews, this movie is not for them. Some would say Captain America: The Winter Soldier is not your typical adventurous film, while others would say it did not catch their attention like they expected.  The only way to decide if you like it or not, is to go view it yourself.

“I have not seen the new Captain America and I really do not care to see it because I didn’t like The Avengers,” said Jasmine Brinston, a sophomore criminal justice major from Pearl, Miss.
