I can say that in opinion, dealing with a pandemic has been one of the worst obstacles any student has come encountered with, especially college students.

Not only has Covid-19 taken away our college festivities for the fall semester, but it has brought our motivational level for school to a minimum.

Half of the world’s school system has moved to online, causing us to have little to no interaction with our peers and teachers. This has also forced us to do most of our schoolwork in the bed, with a lot of snacks surrounding us and a taunting television telling us to watch the latest episodes of “Power” instead.

So there is no surprise that you see millions of high school and college students on social media constantly implying that they have absolutely no motivation for school.

Well, I say that we still have time to redeem our motivation. We all should have written down a couple of goals for ourselves at the beginning of this year, although our vision may have become cloudy due to the challenging circumstances we are facing, use this moment right now to recall what you wanted to achieve by the end of this school year academically.

Kings and queens, it is time to get to work. This might sound cliché, but a routine really does come in handy when it comes to times like this.

Since we are all at home or just stuck in our dorm rooms, here are some things you can do that surprisingly makes a small difference and makes you more productive throughout your day.

GET OUT OF THE BED! Making up your bed in the morning already starts you off with being productive and it can stop you from jumping right back into bed. When doing schoolwork, try to move to a location where you are not likely to fall asleep, like the kitchen table or the floor, it sounds crazy but it works.

STOP BEING NEGATIVE! Positive thoughts and affirmations bring you a long way as well. The more we tell ourselves that we cannot do something, or “I don’t feel like it”, then most likely we will not do it and won’t feel like it.

DON’T PROCRASTINATE! Remember, the quicker you finish your assignment or take some time out to study, the more time you have for yourself.

Putting off important tasks only makes you dread them all day long, and makes you not enjoy watching those “Power” episodes as you munch on hot chips because you are stuck thinking about things that you need to do. We all go through the procrastination stages, and now that we are addressing it, are we going to change it?

I was always told that bad things do not last forever, and although things seem pretty tough right now, hopefully one day we’ll look back saying “I got through a whole semester of school successfully during a pandemic.” So, Jackson State, are we finishing this semester strong?

Ry’n Good Variety Editor Of course, when there is a new school year, new obstacles come into play.
