After spending more than two years together, rappers Quavo <\/a>and Saweetie<\/a> have decided to call it quits. Saweetie announced on her Twitter<\/a> account that she was single after making infidelity claims towards Quavo.<\/p>\n

While being in a relationship with Quavo, Saweetie told the media that she had mentally checked out of the relationship a long time ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cI emotionally checked out a long time ago and have walked away with a deep sense of peace and freedom. Excited for this new chapter of elevation,\u201d stated Saweetie.<\/p>\n

Moments after announcing the split, people on social media reacted instantly, including Quavo.<\/p>\n

In response to Saweetie\u2019s tweet, Quavo said, \u201cI had love for you and disappointed you did all that. You are not the woman I thought you were. I wish you nothing but the best.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response, Saweetie simply tweeted, \u201cTake care.\u201d<\/p>\n

Others have used Sweetie’s infamous, \u201cTake care,\u201d tweet on multiple social media platforms because of how well she was able to handle the breakup. A day after the couple split, Quavo\u2019s sister, Karshara Marshall<\/a>, began feuding with Whitty, Sawatiee\u2019s aunt, after Marshall made comments about Saweetie being self-centered.<\/p>\n

No one ever suspected the couple to part ways as they recently spent Valentine\u2019s Day together in February.<\/p>\n

Another couple to recently call it quits is comedian Gary Owen<\/a> and his wife Kenya Duke.<\/p>\n

Owen\u2019s wife filed for divorce after 18-years of marriage after accusing her husband of being unfaithful.<\/p>\n

Taderia Twillie, a junior and social work major from Olive Branch, Miss., shared her opinion on why she believes people are deeply invested in celebrity relationships.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe people are so invested in celebrity breakups because they idolize only what they see on the outside looking in. People act as if celebrities aren\u2019t regular people who have problems in their everyday life,\u201d stated Twillie.<\/p>\n

Twillie also believes that people should make their own standards instead of basing it on celebrity relationships.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnce people start idolizing celebrities, they begin to get this false reality of what is supposed to be relationship goals instead of making their own standards,\u201d explained Twillie.<\/p>\n

Twillie continued, \u201cI will never understand how people are so invested in people they don\u2019t know, nor do they get paid for it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Markyel Pittman, a junior and political science major from Grenada, Miss., also shared his thoughts on why he believes people are so invested in celebrity relationships.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn my honest opinion, I think that everyone thinks celebrity relationships are the ideal ways that couples should interact with each other,\u201d Pittman said.<\/p>\n

Pittman also believes that people invest in celebrity relationships due to their large social media platforms.<\/p>\n

\u201cSince celebrities have such a lavish lifestyle and a huge social media platform, most people tend to want that as well. It\u2019s just the generation and time that we live in,\u201d said Pittman.<\/p>\n

Although these two celebrity couples have parted ways, history has proven they they are not the first celebrity couple to come to an end, nor will they be the last.<\/p>\n
