Some women believe they can have it all and with determination and perserverance they can reach their goal.\u00a0 One such person is Dr. Heavenly Kimes, a wife, mother, dentist, business expert and an author.<\/p>\n

She has been making a mark on the dental industry and the business world with her strategic expertise and proven credentials for over 12 years.<\/p>\n

Kimes credits her mother for instilling a strong sense of independence with her decision to choose a career in the medical field.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith dentistry, I could set my own hours. I always wanted to be a mother and a wife so I only had to go to school for four years.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t have to do a long residency.\u00a0 Dentistry made sense for me and when they gave me money to come; it was all the better,\u201d said Kimes<\/p>\n

Kimes refused to let any obstacles deter her from her goals.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing a double minority is a hindrance but you cant look at your differences as being your crutch. You have to know who you are and persevere. If you know what you want to do and what your passion is, you just have to move forward despite any turmoil,\u201d said Kimes.<\/p>\n

Kimes is not only a dentist but has several business ventures.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of people would say I\u2019m doing a lot. My main slogan is think, focus, achieve. I always tell people to focus on one thing and become the best at that, but you can learn about a lot of things. I have my real estate license, insurance license, and my husband has an interventional pain practice,\u201d said Kimes.<\/p>\n

Kimes also has a book entitled \u201cDr. Heavenly Business Prescriptions: You Can Have It All.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a book on business success, relationships, and life balance.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople always ask: How can you have three kids, four dogs, and keep a man at the same time? So I thought, let me put my thoughts on paper, so not only does my book have business advice but tips on relationships and life balance,\u201d said Kimes.<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cTh e book has several life balance tips. You have to know what\u2019s most important to you to balance your life. Any relationship you have in the world whether it\u2019s your business or your man you have to spend time with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kimes also feels that as an educated black woman, it is not only her responsibility but the responsibility of other black women to uphold a positive representation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are depicted badly in the media and that\u2019s another reason why I\u2019m coming forward to show that most black women are not what is being depicted in the media . I have several friends that all think like me and that all act like me.\u00a0 We have to come out in the media and change those images as educated black men and women,\u201d said Kimes.<\/p>\n

Kimes also has business and relationship tips for young women that should help them while going on their career path.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Find your passion. When you find your passion it doesn\u2019t become work to you anymore. When you find your passion everything else will fall into place.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Th e best place to find a mate is while you are in school. When you graduate everyone is taken or you don\u2019t know what people want out of you.<\/p>\n

\u2022 If your life is in balance you can get your business in balance.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not that people don\u2019t want nice things because God put it here for them they don\u2019t think they can have them. But if you change their mindset and tell them they can have these things, then they will change their actions and reactions and that will ultimately change their results,\u201d said Kimes<\/p>\n

Kimes received her bachelor\u2019s degree in biology\/pre-med with a minor in chemistry and military science from Florida A & M University. She then finished medical school at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tenn.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
