\u201cTh is is a man\u2019s world, but it would be NOTHING without a woman or a girl.\u201d These lyrics from the legendary James Brown are indicative of the importance of women to the world!<\/p>\n

Over the years, the world has been influenced by women of all colors, races, and creeds. To run the world, one has to be powerful. To run the world, one has to be nurturing. To run the world, one has to be strong. To run the world, one has to be a woman.<\/p>\n

Expressed in the songs of\u00a0 Destiny\u2019s Child, Beyonce, Lil Boosie,\u00a0 Chaka Khan and countless others, the woman is someone who is able to do it all on her own and do it well.<\/p>\n

According to www.UrbanDictionary.com, women often get money from their parents, crave attention from online social networks like Facebook and Twitter and are known to cause a lot of drama at work.<\/p>\n

While Beyonce\u2019s \u201cWho Run the World\u201d lyrics seem a little redundant, she really hit the nail on the head. It\u2019s not about women being able to cook and clean, because in this century, men frequently do so as well. It\u2019s not about women being able to take care of children, because men can do that too. It\u2019s so much more.<\/p>\n

Women have come such a long way from where they were in the past. Even with their progress, society tends to still assign women the stereotype of being cleaners and caregivers. Well ladies, this can actually be a good thing. As a female, we have the power to defy the\u00a0 \u201cnorm\u201d or stereotypes and look great doing it. It would be no surprise to see a successful, powerful man in a tux walking down Wall Street.<\/p>\n

However, there\u2019s something about a woman walking down the streets of a big city, confidently maintaining herself with her own successes
\nthat makes people stop and say \u201cWOW.\u201d<\/p>\n

What comes to mind when you think about Michelle Obama, Tyra Banks or Oprah Winfrey? These women aren\u2019t solely affiliated with
\nmen they have dated or married. They aren\u2019t known for scandals or being dependent on someone wealthier than them. They are individuals, with powerful voices, inner confidence, strong minds and a killer sense of self.<\/p>\n

But these are just three examples of women who define strong independent women.\u00a0 We encounter women who should be celebrated everyday.\u00a0 Your mom, female professors, university presidents, corporate executives, broadcasters, religious leaders, doctors, lawyers and
\nother women deserve recognition everyday.<\/p>\n
