Where can one find poster tubes, boxes, stamps, and great customer service in the same place? The UPS store is the answer. This new addition to Jackson State University\u2019s campus brings retail and resources to students, faculty, alumni, and visitors. Located on the west side of the Student Center, UPS is open for business, striving to meet the needs of those who stop by.
\nMarcus Crowley, manager of store #6073 and the JSU mailroom, describes the store as a \u201cone-stop shop.\u201d Students can walk in or call the store for services such as binding, laminating, purchasing supplies, printing, personalizing, and shipping a cell phone or even a car. The store is able to ship freight and has a wide array of boxes in sizes ranging from 6x6x6 to 24x24x24.
\n\u201cIf you think about it, we probably can ship it for you,\u201d said Crowley.
\nSome items not allowed for shipment include explosives, alcohol, and animals.
\nThe printing component is still in progress. When ready for use, students will be able make computer reservations at $1 for the first 15 minutes and 50 cents for every other 30 minutes.
\nThe UPS store differs from the mailroom due to its retail component. Students will still receive shipped packages and mail from the mailroom and not the UPS store.
\nThe new addition is like any other UPS store; it provides the convenience of products and services without having to leave the campus. Students can use the printing services for class assignments, campaign posters, or for promoting a business with business cards.
\nWith the offered products, customer service is the store\u2019s main priority. The staff participates in customer service training.
\n\u201cCustomer service is going to be truly better,\u201d said Crowley.
\nDannzal Bew, a junior criminology and correctional service major from Stone Mountain, Ga. has used the services offered by the UPS store and would recommend a friend.
\n\u201cI like the customer service that was provided. I like the scenery, everything looks brand new,\u201d said Bew.
\nTriandous Little, a junior business major from Memphis, Tenn. said, \u201cThey were very helpful. They weren\u2019t rushing you. They didn\u2019t have an attitude. They were really caring about what you had to do. This was a good plus for Jackson State.\u201d
\nBreanne Hendricks, a sophomore, biology major from Jackson, Miss. said the store will be beneficial to all students, especially those from out-of-state.
\n\u201cThe store will be beneficial to them [students] if they need to send a package home, especially students who don\u2019t live in Mississippi or if a parent needs to send them a package, they can always go to the UPS store.\u201d
\nThe store also serves as a work-study site. Hours of operation are Monday – Friday from 8 a.m.- 6 p. m. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
