{"id":3480,"date":"2014-02-27T22:00:06","date_gmt":"2014-02-27T22:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sites.jsums.edu\/jsuflash\/?p=3480"},"modified":"2014-02-27T22:00:06","modified_gmt":"2014-02-27T22:00:06","slug":"miss-jsu-interest-meeting-held","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sites.jsums.edu\/theflash\/index.php\/2014\/02\/27\/miss-jsu-interest-meeting-held\/","title":{"rendered":"Miss JSU interest meeting  held"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Avi\u2019Yam Jordan<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>MC Practicum Student<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Friday Feb., 21 the Miss JSU interest meeting was held and four young ladies learned that it takes more than a pretty face to reign as queen of Jackson State University.\u00a0 During the meeting they received an in-depth view of what it takes to have a successful and productive reign.<\/p>\n<p>The potential candidates also learned that there will be a few changes to this year\u2019s pageant.\u00a0 Still clean, professional and fun, the ladies who participate will be able to show the audience who they truly are in a sophisticated manner by implementing the vision of outgoing Miss JSU, D\u00e9j\u00e0 Knight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want the university to feel connected to the young ladies and get an opportunity to know them and see who they truly are,\u201d said Kimberly Morgan-Myles, pageant consultant and former Miss Mississippi. \u201cWe want the judges to have a hard time to choose just three.\u00a0 We want to take the pageant to the next level and for the community to feel more connected to the future student ambassadors of the university.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Graceful, poised, articulate and kind are a few traits that are highly desired in a potential queen of the university. \u00a0 However a stellar GPA, talent and leadership skills are also a priority.<\/p>\n<p>The pageant, which will be sponsored by the JSU Center for Student Engagement and Inclusion, will also feature a diverse group of judges this year.
