Many times when coming back from a break, it can be hard to snap out of the vacation mode and get back in the books. But now is the time that everything you do in your courses is crucial and will count against you.

Besides the Easter break and weekends, there are only 3 weeks of classes left at JSU and less than 50 days left for seniors graduating this spring. For seniors, senioritis is one of the worst illnesses you can develop during the spring semester.

Make sure you get your anti-senioritis shot because catching the infamous senioritis can hurt you. Remember, this is college and professors don’t give pity to students just because they are getting cleared for graduation. If you have been slacking in a class, don’t be surprised if you walk on graduation day and can’t obtain your degree because you have failed one class.

The pressure to both succeed in your courses and prepare for life after college can be a bit much. If you are feeling the stress, staying on top of your studies and priorities will be the only thing that can push you to the end of a successful matriculation at JSU.

For non-graduating undergrads, don’t break your good habits because the school year is almost over. The temperature is rising and the days are getting longer. For some reason, it is so hard to go to class during the middle of a beautiful sunny day, but skipping class is not worth missing work assignments.

Why would someone skip class when there is only 3 weeks of school left of school? Don’t end up being the student that slacks off after spring break but then sends their professor an email with a made up sob story indicating why they should pass with a grade that they probably don’t deserve.

Also, don’t get distracted by all the events and festivities that go on at the end of spring semester. Spring semester always seems to be the shortest semester but it is packed with so many events. There are SGA elections, hotspots and it seems that the plaza turns into a big party. Don’t be tempted or pressured by your peers to skip because of those events.

You have all summer to have fun and turn up, don’t become a lazy lump. Falling off from your studies at the end of the semester can land you in summer school; which can be a waste of time and money.

We are in our last days of this semester, using your time wisely and prioritizing can make a big difference. Remember it’s not about how you start the race but how you finish the race that matters the most.

Taylor Bembery Associate Editor I hope everyone enjoyed their spring break and had a safe return to Jackson State University.
