Many hip-hop fans have been stunned to learn of the controversy between rapper Lil Wayne and his Cash Money Records mentor and \u201cfather\u201d Birdman.\u00a0 Weezy tweeted, \u2018I want off this label and nothing to do with these people,\u2019 and while many believed that the social media posting publicity stunts it seems that there is trouble in \u2018Cash Money\u201d paradise.<\/p>\n

Recent tweets being posted on by both Wayne and his long-term friend Birdman seem to validate the beef and some online sources have state the rift between the two is true and more serious that many imagine.<\/p>\n

According to allhiphop.com, Wayne mentioned that he was suppose to release his new album on Nov. 9 of last year but indicated that he was in a bad situation. He wanted to be released from the label because Birdman wouldn\u2019t release \u201cTha Carter V\u201d.<\/p>\n

Lil Wayne decided to release mixtape to apologize to his fans for the delay of his unreleased album.\u00a0 After releasing \u201cSorry 4 the Wait 2\u201d, listeners can hear Wayne speak about some of his dissatisfactions with his label as well as comments relating to Birdman.<\/p>\n

TMZ is also reporting that the two tried to make a settlement but neither came up with a compromise. Wayne\u2019s pending lawsuit against Cash Money and its head Bryan \u201cBirdman\u201d Williams will include demands that YM artists Drake, Nicki Minaj, and others stay tied to Weezy.<\/p>\n

Some JSU students are surprised about the controversy considering the close relationship between the two artists.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m amazed that two artists that are recognizable are feuding,\u201d said Robria Daniels, a senior English major from Jackson, Miss.<\/p>\n

Other students feel Birdman is the villain in this situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe signed the contract, but he didn\u2019t know he would get himself into this because of the personal relationship they have. By him being young and ignorant, he thought this would never happen of the relationship that they both have,\u201d said Amber Lockett, a sophomore social work major from Chicago, Ill.<\/p>\n

Cadaris Waits, a freshman music education major from Jackson, Miss. thinks professional jealousy is fueling the beef.<\/p>\n

\u201cBirdman is probably showing hatred towards Lil Wayne because he thinks that Lil Wayne\u2019s album will outshine him\u201d, said Waits.<\/p>\n

Aaron Estes, a sophomore business marketing major from Dallas, Texas said, \u201cPersonally, Wayne is entitled to feel like that because Birdman is spending much time trying to groom Young Thug into being the new Wayne. Instead, he should try to show Wayne the love and respect for the artist he is.\u201d<\/p>\n

With the continuing delay of \u201cTha Carter V\u201d and Wayne suing Birdman, it appears that the controversy will continue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
