\u201cA Fresh cool, Young Lu\u201d Is back\u201d and the critics and listeners can both agree that he was very much missed.<\/p>\n

It was so many years ago that he released his critically acclaimed sophomore effort \u201cLupe Fiasco\u2019s The Cool\u201d.\u00a0 After nearly a decade on Atlantic records, the Windy City MC has finally reclaimed his spot as one of the most intriguing storytellers in the business.<\/p>\n

As his first two albums were met with great praise, Lupe went through a controversial period with his label who wanted the lyricist to brand his appeal to a more mainstream audience.\u00a0 Instead Lupe would oppose and therefore became even more passionate and somewhat \u201cpolitical.\u201d Now the original \u201cbreath of fresh air\u201d that Jay-Z proclaimed has regained his sound on \u201cTetsuo & Youth\u201d.<\/p>\n

T&Y is framed around two interludes, an intro and an outro that are all titled after seasons. The album starts with \u201cSummer\u201d, a happy instrumental played by violins with the sounds of children enjoying the season.<\/p>\n

The three following songs perfectly fit the opening theme as the standout song of this first section of the album is \u201cDots & Lines\u201d, a track that oddly enough starts out with jovial banjo playing. The chorus sings, \u201cIn a line, in a line, in a line, in a line, in a line, Three angels in kind, on time, go straight, don\u2019t sign\u201d, as Lupe warns up and coming artist that they should not sign to a major label because they will attempt to change their music.<\/p>\n

The next sector goes into \u201cFall\u201d with its best track being the lengthy \u201cPrisoner 1 & 2\u201d which spans nearly nine minutes with tales of a prisoner of a correction facility and a prisoner of the music industry.<\/p>\n

The Chicagoan sings, \u201cI just wanna be collected when I call God, damn I don\u2019t wanna be accepted; not as all as I am\u201d but then the song transforms into a tale of a corrections officer that hates the prisoners along with his job with the chorus becoming more harsh as he raps, \u201cI Wouldn\u2019t rehabilitate, man, I would just box these n***s and throw away the key\u201d.<\/p>\n

As the album progresses, it seemingly gets darker as the seasons change with \u201cWinter\u201d opening up with the uber aggressive posse track \u201cChopper\u201d, with the remarkable Madonna being the standout of the chilly season.<\/p>\n

With \u201cSpring\u201d being the outro to the album, the style of the album shifts mid \u201cWinter\u201d as Lupe gives us \u201cAdoration of the Magi\u201d. During this track, Lupe references the fast life that youths live by referencing a multitude of album covers such as Lil\u2019 Wayne\u2019s \u201cTha Carter III\u201d by rapping \u201cWhy you ready to die? You just a baby, Why them tears up under your eyes? You just a baby\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cT&Y\u201d proves that it is possible to have sonically pleasing songs like \u201cDots & Lines\u201d and \u201cAdoration of the Magi\u201d which makes you listen repeatedly.\u00a0 The listener will notice something different every time you hear it.<\/p>\n

Lupe\u2019s story telling skills have also come back times ten on the masterpiece \u201cPrisoners 1 & 2\u201d which give \u201cT&Y\u201d a \u201c2pacalypse Now\u201d feel.<\/p>\n

Through and through Lupe Fiasco has created his greatest masterpiece to date and has regained his form. Get ready because it\u2019s Tetsuo Season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
