\"\"<\/a>Multi-award winning and acclaimed Actor, Director and Producer Tim Reid along with other members of the Legacy Media Institute are at Jackson State University presenting a two-weeks master class on filmmaking to 11 aspiring young multimedia students in the Mass Communication department.<\/p>\n

Reid, best known for his roles in the television series Frank\u2019s Place, Sister Sister<\/em>, and more recently\u00a0Trem\u00e9<\/em>, will choose two students from this first master class at JSU to join LMI in London for a two-week film workshop in June. JSU students also will present their work in a public screening on Friday, May 29 at the JSU Student Center Theatre at 5:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Dr. Elayne H. Anthony, director of Mass Communication at JSU, said: \u201cwe are very happy to host the Tim Reid Legacy Media Institute first master class on filmmaking at JSU.\u00a0 Students will be given experience in every aspect of filmmaking. We are pleased to have award-winning actor Tim Reid as the instructor for this course.\u201d<\/p>\n

The London workshop participants produce their own short narrative film to be screened in front of a UK audience in the BFI-Southbank theater on Saturday, June 20th, in conjunction with the BFI\u2019s African Odyssey Film Programme.<\/p>\n

Under Reid\u2019s guidance, participants will be exposed to the expert advice of other established industry professionals such as: award-winning cinematographer John Simmons, ASC, and UK\u2019s award-winning actor and director, Burt Caesar. Various other industry professionals will also join the group to cover directing actors, animation, marketing and promotion.<\/p>\n

LMI, based in Virginia, was created as a support system for diverse, independent film artists with a state-of-the-art facility providing training in filmmaking, business and media production.<\/p>\n

Legacy Media Institute is a non-profit 501(C)(3) organization dedicated to bringing together leading professionals in the film and television industry, outstanding actors, and young men and woman who wish to pursue a career in the entertainment media.
