On Aug. 25, the class of 2015 voted Quentin Hendree and Taylor Johnson as Jackson State University\u2019s Mr. and Miss Freshman.<\/p>\n<p>An Atlanta, Ga. native,\u00a0 Johnson is a mass communications major with a concentration in multimedia journalism. With her bachelor\u2019s degree, she plans to work as a journalist or as a news anchor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing Miss Freshman makes me feel honored and humble because the position gives me a sense of responsibility knowing people watch and respect you,\u201d said Johnson. \u201cI\u2019m looking forward to the excitement of the football games, the energy of the people (JSU fans) and the outfits.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hendree, a Memphis, Tenn. native, is a business administration major who plans to own a successful businesses following in the footsteps of his uncle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI chose JSU because it feels like home to me. I had always attended the Southern Heritage classic, so the school was familiar to me,\u201d said Hendree. \u201cWith the aid of others, I made efforts in campaigning by putting posters up around campus and spreading the word. I did not just wake up overnight and decide I wanted to be Mr. Freshman, it has been a goal of mine,\u201d Hendree added.<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cMost people don\u2019t know that I can sing like Trey Songz, at least I THINK!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am above the ground and the ground is not above me\u201d and \u201cStruggle now, enjoy later\u201d are quotes that he lives by and\u00a0 as Mr. Freshman, he hopes to set standards for the<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_600\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-600\" style=\"width: 201px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.jsums.edu\/theflash2025\/files\/2011\/09\/2011-09-01-17.24.101.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-600\" src=\"http:\/\/sites.jsums.edu\/theflash2025\/files\/2011\/09\/2011-09-01-17.24.101-e1315607186140-201x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"201\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-600\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Quentin Hendree<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>class of 2015.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI plan on getting involved in community service and planning events for my graduating class.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>These additions to the royal court believe in\u00a0 Miss JSU Mea Ashley\u2019s platform of \u2018setting admirable standards\u2019 on a level of high standard.<br \/>\nJohnson also added that she looks up to Ashley.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI look up to her because she is not only Miss JSU, but I get to see her normal and laid-back side, which is great to see!\u201d<br \/>\nOne of Miss Freshman\u2019s favorite quotes is Proverb 31:30, \u201cFavor is deceitful, beauty is vein, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Johnson said: \u201cI have matured in many ways, personally and as a student. I am more opinionated as well.
