\nStudents raise funds for their organizations while\u00a0<\/em>celebrating homecoming<\/em><\/span><\/h1>\n

Tuesday, Oct. 20 marks the 4th day of the Jackson State University Homecoming Week 2015: Let The Good Times Roar. The main event was occurring on the night of the annual Homecoming Street Jam. The event kicked off at 5 p.m. and ended at 10 p.m.<\/p>\n

The Homecoming Street Jam included an array of campus organizations that set up booths alongside both sides of the street by the Walter Payton Recreation & Wellness Center. There was various types food items sold to students to raise money for the organizations in attendance.<\/p>\n

From rotel, candy apples, chicken on a stick, and much more, there was almost no treat that you couldn\u2019t buy at the Street Jam. Although food was one of the main events there was also a Basketball Shoot Out that students could participate in for a few dollars for the student\u2019s enjoyment. Many organizations had raffle tickets available to purchase to win a basket. Student members of Outspoken Arts Collective sang, rapped, and recited poetry to students in return for change.<\/p>\n

The activities during the Street Jam are all geared towards students having a good time. Zavier McDaniel, a senior graphic design major from Saint Louis, Mo. stated, \u201cEveryone is in attendance at Street Jam and everyone is having fun, including me!\u201d<\/p>\n

One of the events students also enjoyed was \u201cPie an Alpha.\u201d This event allows students to throw pies in the faces of their favorite or even not so favorite member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. for $1. This year the members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. also decided to let students pie their faces for $1.<\/p>\n

While students engaged in food and pie throwing, music was provided by DJ T-Money.\u00a0 As students filled their stomachs they were also able to enjoy the sounds of DJ TMoney. As the night went on students began to migrate from the organizations\u2019 booths to the lawn where the stage was set-up.<\/p>\n

\u201cI always enjoy the music at Homecoming events especially at Street Jam because the school spirit is always at an all-time high,\u201d said Brittany Rogers, a senior criminal justice major from Greenwood, Miss.<\/p>\n

Local people in the neighborhood and even Jackson State University alumni come from all over to celebrate.<\/p>\n
