Neasman, assistant professor in the Department of English and Modern Foreign Languages at Jackson State University, has been selected as Humanities Teacher and Scholar for 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Tesia Nagorka, a senior English major from Biloxi, Miss., said: \u201cI\u2019m not surprised at all because he is a teacher of excellence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Treasure Thigpen, a senior English major from Cincinnati, OH, calls Neasman a \u201cblack Shakespearean\u201d because of his extensive knowledge of author and playwright William Shakespeare.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s the best teacher I\u2019ve ever had; the most enthusiastic and motivating instructor,\u201d stated Thigpen. \u201cYou can trust what he teaches you; he is really passionate about his subject matter.<\/p>\n<p>Neasman has presented numerous scholarly papers and lectures on the dramatic works of Shakespeare and is the 2010 recipient of the Robert Adger Law Award of Best Shakespeare paper at the Conference of College Teachers of English.\u00a0\u00a0 He is founder and the current advisor for the JSU Shakespeare Club, a student organization that celebrates Shakespeare\u2019s dramatic and poetic art. Neasman also lectures and presents puppet shows on Shakespeare in the Jackson Public Schools.<\/p>\n<p>As the recipient Humanities Teacher Award, Neasman will received $400 and is required to make a public program presentation, and he will do so on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 10 a.m. in the Dollye Robinson College of Liberal Arts Lecture Room 266.
