The world of music is being rocked by a new all girl band, Chic Bang Theory! The group brings a refreshing sound to music as they seem to have been influenced by a Lauryn Hill or a Marsha Ambrosius.<\/p>\n

\u201cPersonally, I am a huge jazz fan and my musical influences are mostly from people like John Coltrane and stage play musicals like \u2018Cats,\u2019\u201d said band member Larissa Hale.<\/p>\n

Chic Bang Theory, originally known as \u2018Calico Panache\u2019, was created in the heart of Jackson, Miss.\u00a0 and comes as a very diverse entertainment group.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe got our group\u2019s name from our fans. We could not figure out what we wanted our name to be so we imposed a poll on Facebook and Twitter of four different group names, and the fans decided on \u2018Chic Bang Theory\u2019,\u201d said Hale.<\/p>\n

Composed of six sensational young ladies, this talented group is riding to the top!<\/p>\n

The group earned a spot on this week\u2019s\u00a0 106 & Park\u2019s Wild Out Wednesday after competing in the \u201cBlaze the Stage\u201d contest.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we win the [106 and Park]competition against the other groups, we get to move on to the All-Stars competition, weeks after Wild Out Wednesday, and I believe that there is a $5,000 cash prize, as well,\u00a0 said Hale.<\/p>\n

After hearing the group\u2019s two lead vocalists Olivia Walker from Los Angeles, Calif. and Amanda McDaniel from Vicksburg, Miss., music listeners have no choice but to stop and listen to Chic Bang\u2019s Theory. The group has two eccentric keyboardists, Jessica Smith, from Clarksdale, Miss. and Hale, from Chicago, Ill. Smith is also a background vocalist, while Hale, the \u201cangelic soul\u201d of the group,\u00a0 serves as a multiple horn player. Cherita Brent and Chaquita Adams, both Mississippi natives are the continuous beats of the group\u2019s music as drummers.<\/p>\n

From August 2009, up until now, this all female sensation has been performing locally projecting their music to eager audiences. The group has the help of two managers, and they are styled by Ashley Hart,\u00a0 the first fashion designer from Mississippi to participate in New York Fashion Week 2011.<\/p>\n

They have gained experience performing at Southern University, Tougaloo College and Jackson State University.<\/p>\n

Recently, the group has been performing and promoting their new single \u2018Diggin You\u2019, available on iTunes right now!<\/p>\n

The group will also perform at the JSU Capital City Classic Student Concert on Nov. 19 at 8 p.m. at the JSU Athletics and Assembly Center as the oepning act for Plies and Miguel.<\/p>\n
