One of Jackson States most highly decorated football players has big things coming his way. Linebacker and defensive end, Javancy Jones, is scoring more than accolades off the field and has joined Zuratti Management.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t want a big time agent. I didn\u2019t want a too small agent, so I wanted something in the middle. I wanted somebody that had connects that was hungry like I am,\u201d said Jones.<\/p>\n

The All- American not only signed with an agency, he has two offers from the Canadian Football League and a chance in the NFL draft. All of these accomplishments are credited to how he improved as a player during his time at JSU.<\/p>\n

\u201cI got a whole lot stronger, faster, the game has slowed down. My freshman year it (the game) was real fast. So over the years I got smarter, my I.Q of the game\u2026 it enhanced so it helped me out a lot on the field,\u201d said Jones.<\/p>\n

During his four years as a Tiger, Jones became well versed on the field. With many coaching changes on the team, he prides his ability to learn fast.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell you know I adapt pretty smooth. I had four different defensive coordinators and the hard thing about those defensive coordinators (was) they all came with a different defense. I played in a 4-2-5, or a 3-4-4, a 3-3-5, so just to play in those different defenses I had to adapt. I had to learn to pick up on certain things quite fast and you know it has been kind of smooth for me though,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

Even with proving his skills on the field, others questioned if he was good enough.<\/p>\n

The Macon native said, \u201cA lot of people doubt me because I came from a small school in the SWAC. We don\u2019t have much respect like back in the day. We had first rounder\u2019s every year\u2026 I never thought about proving the people that doubted me wrong. I just wanted to prove the people who believed in me right,\u201d said Jones.<\/p>\n

Jones is proving himself and others right for believing that his chances are high to make it to an NFL team. He says the hard work comes with being able to stay.<\/p>\n

\u201cGetting drafted, that is another discussion there. It\u2019s going to be pretty hard. I\u2019m going to need God and a lot of other things to get me drafted because I am from a small school and they look down on us, but I think I have a chance,\u201d believes Jones.<\/p>\n

Being able to play professional football would not be just a blessing for Javancy, but also his family. His mother suffers from Devic\u2019s Disease and helping her is his top priority, as well as providing for his daughter.<\/p>\n

Jones said, \u201cFirst thing I\u2019m going to do is move my momma back home. It\u2019s a lot of stuff she has to do, so right now the only thing that is going to get her back home is money and the grace of God. So trying to get my momma back home is first off.\u00a0 And that little girl, she\u2019s going have the world, she already knows that. She gets the world no matter what. She gets my last so it\u2019s just going to be a blessing,\u201d<\/p>\n

No matter what the future hold for Jones, football will play apart.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight now we are going to try to make the NFL team, if that doesn\u2019t happen, we\u2019re going to try the CFL. If that doesn\u2019t happen, I\u2019m going to stick to coaching. That\u2019s always been my first dream from the get-go. So just being around football 24\/7, it has assisted me. If it\u2019s the NFL, or just a coach, or equipment manager or anything, I just want to be around the game.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
