The “C” in iPhone 5C does not stand for cheap. Both iPhone 5C and 5S prices are $528 up to $649.
“I don’t know if I will be able to afford an iPhone 5S or 5C but I’m ready for them to come out already,” said Myra Hayes, a freshman English major from Byram, Miss.
Tech radar announced that both iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S will be in stores this Friday, on Sept. 20th, but the 5C was made available for advance order on Friday, Sept. 13th. The iPhone 5S was not made available for preorder.
What is the difference between the two iPhones? The 5C has a powerful A6 chip which provides fast performance and graphics. It can apply filter to photos and record 1080p HD Video. One of the main differences is that they are mix and match designed cases in six colors for 30 different combinations.
The iPhone 5C uses essentially the same specifications as the iPhone 5, but comes in a colorful plastic body. The iPhone 5c is essentially last year’s iPhone 5 in more colorful clothing. It has a larger battery and better front-camera than the iPhone 5.
“Yep, I would pick the iPhone 5C just for the color, the colors caught my attention when I saw them online before anything else,” said Betty Watson, a junior accounting major from Jackson, Miss.
However, the iPhone 5S is highly advanced. It has a powerful A7 chip with the Touch ID fingerprint sensor. The iPhone 5s has a Fingerprint sensor built into its Home button. It scans your fingerprint and stores it, so you can unlock the phone.
The iPhone 5S gets a faster 64-bit processor, fingerprint sensor, and a new gold color option. In addition, the 5S has a new 8-megapixel iSight and Face Time HD Camera.
“I wish the company could just combine the 5S with the 5C because it’s gonna be hard to choose,” said Toshiba Mack, a junior biology major from Bolton, Miss.
One of iOS 7’s other big features is iTunes Radio, a music app that serves up radio-like streams of songs based on artists or genres. It will be free but for now it will only be available in the US.
According to Apple.com, there is a release confirming the launch details for iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. Consumers should know that in addition to the Apple Store and Apple’s online storefront, customers can visit their local wireless carriers including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless.
Walt Mossberg, in the Wall Street Journal report: A New Touch for iPhone stated: “After a week of testing the iPhone 5s, I like it and can recommend it for anyone looking for a premium, advanced smartphone. If you are an iPhone fan with any model older than the iPhone 5, the new 5s will be a big step up. If you own an iPhone 5, there’s less of a case for upgrading, unless you want the fingerprint reader and improved camera. You can get the new OS free of charge… Overall, however, the new iPhone 5s is a delight. Its hardware and software make it the best smartphone on the market.”
Last year, Apple boasted that pre-orders for the iPhone 5 topped 2 million within the first 24 hours. At the time, Apple’s Web site was overwhelmed by the orders and the carrier stores quickly began pushing back their delivery estimates.
