Taraji P. Henson Doesn’t Plan On Playing Cookie for “Too Long”
Taraji P. Henson who plays Cookie Lyons in the hit show “Empire” says the role is becoming too emotionally draining for her.
The character is one tough cookie (pun intended), which is why Henson was drawn to her. She recently told Variety that playing such a dynamic and ultimately flawed character seemed like a challenge to her.
“Any role that scares me is a challenge and I don’t back away from challenges,” the actress explains, “That’s how I pick roles — if it scares me, I have to do it. Cookie scared me a bit and the challenge was, how do I make the audience connect and feel and empathize for her?”
According to Variety Magazine, Henson believes that once the show becomes eligible for syndication that she will no longer be a part of it.
“Empire” has already completed a total of 48 episodes and needs 40 more episodes in order to go into syndication, 88 episodes total is about two more seasons.
The executives have yet to give a statement in regards to Henson’s future plans. Many supporters of the show feel that there will be no show without its star, Cookie Lyons.
Tyrese Gibson’s Rant
R&B singer and actor, Tyrese Gibson, is receiving flack for his rant about women who wear weave and that have had plastic surgery.
Gibson went on social media bashing these women calling them “Manufactured clowns” according to his Instagram.
Gibson went on to say that he wasn’t “trying to be mean” and praised #TeamNatural and women who uses physical activity to achieve an attractive
figure.
“If your beauty has been purchased, that’s fine…. own it, enjoy it! Just know that us real ones out here see the real.”
The singer/actor wrote the blunt post in response to listening to a group of women tear down men; saying that all men are stupid and will sleep with and marry anything.
According to Too Fab, Gibson felt compelled to speak out to women who think men are simply stupid, arguing males are actually smarter than they look and respect women more who are confident in their natural appearance.
The message was not well received online and users fired up Gibson’s Instagram comments section.
Mel B files for divorce from husband
Mel-B, from the legendary group The Spice Girls, is filing for a divorce from her husband Stephen Belafonte.
The couple has been married for 10 years. According to TMZ.com, the couple separated back in December. But in February, Mel-B posted a picture of her and Belafonte on Instagram saying:
“We have been through everything that would normally tear couples apart and we have come out on the other side stronger. You loved me before I even knew how to really love myself.”
They have a total of 4 kids but only 1 child together. The Spice Girl singer is asking for joint custody of their 5 year old daughter. She also wants to deny Belafonte child support.
