It’s that time of year again to welcome back all of our short shorts, sun dresses, sandals,  tank tops, cargos, and any other trendy clothing in for the season. Out with last year’s fashion and in with the new season’s latest trends.

We always give the consumer credit for their keen sense of fashion, but what about the creator themselves. Junior social work major, Jeremi Meekins, junior biology major, Kimeesa Smith and Kenneth Green came together to start a new trend. They envisioned not only supporting fashion and clothing but also creating an encouraging and passionate movement titled Simply Dope Clothing: Fashion Over Fly. Dope standing for “Doing Our Passion Everyday.”

Vice President Kenneth Green said, “Everyone has a consistent passion. With wearing our clothing people are promoting good fashion and have a daily encouragement to strive to be their best at all times.”

The three have come together to make an impeccable trio team with Meeks makes the designs; Smith is the secretary, completes the orders and helping with the website and Green supervises the web site and makes sure things run smoothly. The clothing line hopes to reach out to more males to help join the movement, making the brand more known. In doing so, they believe it will make it easier to market their line in stores.

As the current summer season enters, Simply Dope Clothing offers men and women tanks, tees, and wristbands. An exclusive new line of fashion will be introduced soon.  While right now Simple Dope Clothing’s dominate geographic audience is Mississippi, the clothing line hopes to have celebrities wearing their clothing in the near future.

As a clothing line the entrepreneurs hope to expand their line not only throughout all fifty states but also overseas. Their main goal for the company is to show people that anything is possible is possible once you put your mind to it.

Kimeesa Smith, President of the company, said, “This is something that has always been our passion to do. We wanted to show people that there is more to Vicksburg than local rap artists, gambling, and historic events.”

The three young entrepreneurs created their own website for the clothing line. Anyone can order and have their purchases mailed directly to their houses. Nothing on the website is more than thirty dollars. For each purchase made on the website, each customer receives a free glow in the dark Simply Dope wrist band.  For good quality fashion for less than you would pay at your typical retail store visit: simplydopeclothing.bigcartel.com
