Get Ready To Start Your Audition!

There will be two auditions for the 2026-2027 performance year (both are in-person). The first audition is March 6-8 (deadline Feb 25) and the second is May 15-17 (deadline May 5). There is a non-refundable audition fee of $50.00, which is due by February 25, 2026 (deadline for the first audition date) and May 5, 2026 (deadline for the second audition date). *NOTE: MORE INFORMATION WILL BE GIVEN ONCE YOU HAVE SUBMITTED YOUR APPLICATION.

The Prancing J-Settes Audition process is an elimination process. The audition is separated into four rounds over three days.

- (Round 1) Interview
- (Round 2) Stage Presence
- (Round 3) Agility and Individual Dance
- (Round 4) Group Choreography (group dance choreography consisting of marching, stands and field choreography)

For logistical and planning purposes, Rounds 1-3 are on Friday, starting at 5pm. Round 4 is on Saturday and Sunday. No eliminations take place on Saturday. If you advance to Round 4 from Friday, you continue the audition through Sunday.

HOUSING/MEALS WILL NOT BE PROVIDED DURING AUDITIONS

Incoming Freshmen

- Acceptance letter from JSU (with J#)
- 3 Recommendation Letters; LETTERS FROM
  FAMILY, FRIENDS, TEAMMATES WILL NOT BE
  ACCEPTED

Current Students

- -J#
- Copy of Unofficial Transcript showing 2.5 or
  higher cumulative gpa (can be a screenshot)

Prancing J-Settes Auditions: Performance Requirements

The Prancing J-Settes Auditions consist of 4 Rounds. To become a Prancing J-Sette, you must make a certain score in each round to advance to the next round. PLEASE NOTE: MORE SPECIFIC DETAILS WILL BE GIVEN ONCE YOU HAVE COMPLETED AN APPLICATION AND SUBMITTED THE AUDITION FEE.

Round 1: Live Interview

Business attire is mandatory- present your best self.

Round 2: Stage Presence

Show your poise, physical physique and level of physical fitness wearing a top and bottom (two piece) that best suites you. The two piece of your choice should complement your physical physique in color, style, and size. Embellishments such as rhinestones, sequins or appliques are preferred but not required. Shimmery toast/toast tights are required.

Round 3: Agility and Individual Dance

Agility:

right/left kick
right/left split
forward/backward roll
toe touch
cartwheel
round-off
backbend
pop up
walk over

Individual Dance: perform an individual dance of at most 1 minute and 30 seconds. This is your opportunity to impress the judges with your talent, creativity and knowledge of the Prancing J-Sette dance style.

Round 4: Group Choreography

Group dance choreography consists of marching, stands and field choreography. Attire will be provided, however you will need toast tights.
