Jackson State University’s Division of Sports inducted seven former outstanding athletes during its 30th Sports Hall of Fame banquet ceremony on Sept. 22, in the Student Center Ballroom on the main campus.
This year’s banquet ceremony honored athletes in three sports: baseball, football and track and field.
Those who were enshrined have made a mark on and off the field and have continued to impact their communities with civic duties and various businesses. As well, some have played professional sports or carried their talents to academic institutions.
The 2017 honorees:
• Bennie Crenshaw, football
• Schuyler Doakes, baseball
• Johnny Edwards, baseball
• Jesse Griffin, football
• Victor Hall, football
• Edgar “Chico” Jordan, football (posthumous honor)
• Jimmy Patterson, track and field
