I am interested in mentorship. Mentoring is one of the reasons why I wanted to be Miss JSU. I have three younger sisters, so I have been a mentor for the majority of my life.
In high school, I did not get a chance to mentor other people because I was going through mentoring sessions for myself. I wasn’t altogether. I am still not altogether, but I found a keen interest in sharing my knowledge with others. I truly believe there is no reason to gain knowledge if you are not passing it on.
What has your overall college experience been like?
My college experience has been such a learning experience. I haven’t accomplished nearly as much as I want, but I definitely feel like my mentors, supporters, professors and friends have molded me into the woman that I aspire to be.
I still have work to do, but progress has been made in a positive direction. I am truly grateful that I got to experience the JSU culture. It is an experience that you cannot find anywhere else but Thee I Love.
What are your future aspirations?
I want to work for a Fortune 500 company, which I will now have the opportunity to do. I have just accepted a full-time job offer at Amazon as a sales development representative. I am so excited.
I’ll be moving to Seattle to begin my career after graduation. Once I begin working in this role, I would love to move on to Amazon Studios and Prime Video. That’s a long-term goal for me. I would also like to start my own business, where I can offer marketing and public relations services to small businesses to help them achieve great heights.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”” top_margin=”none”][vc_column type=”” top_margin=”none” width=”1/1″][vc_empty_space height=”32px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”” top_margin=”none”][vc_column type=”” top_margin=”none” width=”1/1″][vc_separator_pr style=”default” top_margin=”none”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”” top_margin=”none”][vc_column type=”” top_margin=”none” width=”1/1″][vc_empty_space height=”32px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row type=”” top_margin=”none”][vc_column type=”” top_margin=”none” width=”2/3″][vc_single_image image=”4653″ border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”large”][/vc_column][vc_column type=”” top_margin=”none” width=”1/3″][vc_custom_heading text=”Mister JSU 2020-21:

My freshman year, I was SGA freshmen class president. I’ve been a part of the SGA ever since. I wanted to try my hand in different organizations. Although I wasn’t involved in every organization, I was still associating with a lot of them. The closer it got to senior year, I began thinking, ‘How do I want to close out my year?’ There was no better way to represent the university than to be Mister Jackson State.
What is your platform?
Campus unity. Campus unity is tied to campus pride and pride in the community. I felt like one organization would spend money to have an event, and only four people show up. Another organization would have a similar event and spend the same amount of money, and 100 people would show up. I felt like something was missing. So, I wanted to send a message. Not only should we uplift each other and push each other to graduate, but we should uplift and push each other’s events and organizations. If we’re all on one accord, we can accomplish that one mission or goal to drive our campus pride to the furthest reaches.
What are your plans after graduation?
My ultimate goal is to move to California. Right now, I have an internship with the ‘Go for Yours’ organization, based in California. It helps high school and college students achieve their career goals. They fly these kids to California to learn from different people in industries they may want to pursue. So the kids will have the motivation to pursue their dreams. The organization has a lot of ties with networks like BET and STARZ. So, I hope while I’m helping others chase their dreams, I’ll make the right connection to chase mine.
What do you want people to remember about your leadership?
I want people to remember that I was here. I never earned a position and sat idly by just to build my resume. I was leading from both the front and the side. I want to leave Jackson State knowing I had an impact on the people I was chosen to lead.
In honor of 110th Anniversary of JSU football, what is your fondest JSU Tigers football memory?
My first Southern Heritage Classic in 2017. That was the first time I ever been to a college tailgate and a game with so much energy and school pride.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
