The national fellowship is the PGA REACH inclusion pillar’s flagship program, focusing on engaging a diverse demographic of participants, considering gender, age, race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, disability, and veteran status.
The fellowship aims to provide opportunities for minorities and women in the golf industry. The Ohio native is assisting the administration of PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) programming, the flagship military program of PGA REACH, where she plays an integral role in coordinating PGA HOPE Clinics and Play Days across the region.
Additionally, Garcia will support youth player development programming, including PGA Jr. League Golf, and Drive, Chip & Putt. Hicks was sworn in as judge on July 14, 2020. Reeves extended Hick’s term through Jan. 3, 2022.
In July, Hicks was temporarily appointed by Mississippi Supreme Court Chief Justice Mike Randolph as a special judge for the Hinds County Court. The appointment was due to the vacancy left by the retirement of Judge Melvin V. Priester Sr.
Among her accomplishments, Hicks previously served as director of the Mission First Legal Aid Office, a pro bono initiative of Mississippi College School of Law. In this role, she oversaw staff and volunteer operations, providing legal services to more than 1,200 low-income clients annually in metro Jackson. She began working with Mission First as a student volunteer, then became a staff attorney in 2010.
